I saw some big ripe strawberries at the grocery today. I got a small box and ate them at lunch. I’m considering going back for more tomorrow, and making a strawberry pie; because nothing is better when strawberries are in season than Mamaw’s fresh strawberry pie. I keep meaning to try to make it with frozen strawberries. If it works I’ll let you know.
- 1 pkg graham crackers
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1 qt. sliced strawberries
- 3 T cornstarch, slightly heaped
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 pkg wild strawberry jello
For crust, combine crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar and melted Butter flavor Crisco. Press firmly in bottom and up side of ungreased 9-inch pan. Set aside. For filling, cook sugar, cornstarch and water until thick. Remove and add jello. Let cool. Mix strawberries and jello mixture. Pour into crust and refrigerate until cold. Top with dream whip if desired.
