I’ve been spending a lot of time lately working on things for the Gibson County Theatre Company. I ended up spending almost my entire weekend at GCTC productions, rehearsals and workdays.
On Friday night, I handled ticket sales for the GCTC Drama Camp production of Willy Wonka. That was a lot of fun. After the show several of us went out to Applebee’s for dinner and drinks. We talked about our upcoming productions of The Sound of Music and The One That Got Away, as well as some options and fundraising ideas for a permanent location for the Theatre Company.
This, of course, is as Jessie put it, our magical theatre of the future. We would love to have to space to have both a traditional and blackbox theatre in the same space, that way we can do more daring productions like Rocky Horror Picture Show, and tick, tick… BOOM!, some Shakespeare and the like as well as our regular types of shows.
We talked most of the evening about this type of thing, and I finally went home about a quarter to 12, where Matt was already asleep. On Saturday, Matt had his tractor drive and I had meetings and rehearsals for GCTC. After rehearsals, I went down to Evansville to look for a dress for the play. Stacy has talked me into being a guest in the party scene of SoM. I went to Goodwill, AnnaLee’s, Capricorn and Worldwide Consignments, but I didn’t find anything I liked for the part. I did however, find some wonderful columns at Hobby Lobby, which we are using as a separation between the terrace and the house.
I took the columns in with me to set construction on Sunday, after I stopped by the Goodwill in Princeton. I was surprised how many more dresses they had there. I was able to find one there. It’s red, which is so me, and has classic lines, which make it a rather timeless piece.
Once I got to set construction, I had a lot of fun. Kayci and I spent most of the time painting gates for the abbey, with ultra black and painting the walls of the house with “Fluffy Biscuit” which is possibly the best name ever for paint.
You should do more shopping at Goodwill, nice dress!
Thanks Dave. I’ll take that into consideration. It’s definatly a lot more affordable than the places I usually shop.
You look very nice in it……not something to wear unloading the truck for one of our sound gigs. 🙂
