About a month ago, I was contacted by my local Kiwanis chapter and asked to speak at about my business. Yesterday was the meeting I got to speak at.

Of course, I as a little (ok, a lot) nervous about it. This is the first speaking engagment like that, which I have done for the business, but I guess it went allright.

I told everyone a little bit about myself and my background as a web designer, and then I told them a little bit about some of my previous projects. If you are interested in seeing some of those projects, visit my business webiste at: www.mtolympusproductions.com

Overall, I think the presentation went pretty well. I didn’t screw up too bad, and I gave away a few business cards. One of the people I met at this conference actually suggested that I consider using Qualtrics to create an online survey to send around to the participants at the talk. They could give me feedback on my presenting skills and my business, allowing me to gather some feedback. That could be really useful. Hopefully, I’ll get some business out of it, because I would love to be able to do this full time. (If only so that I can make my own hours and sleep in.) The job I have is just fine, but it doesn’t give me the flexibility I once had to meet with clients whenever they want or to do some of the other projects I would like.

See, I think I should be available to meet with my clients during the business day, but right now, my only available time is during my lunch. Granted, I have a pretty flexible lunch time, but drive time severly cuts into the amount of time I can actually give to my clients.

Here’s hoping that it goes somewhere.
