I’ve realized today that even tough I cannot sew anything together for my quilt, there is still a lot I can do. For once I’m actually going to cut all of the fabric out for a project before I start sewing. Maybe this will be a good thing. I’ll even know if I have enough of all of the fabric I’m using instead of realizing halfway through sewing a project. Awesome right?
I’ve also decided that I am going to do the entire quilt in black and white (and grey). I’m really excited about it. I even think that you’ll love it, too.

Have any of you ever made a quilt before?
If so, I’d love to know if you used a hand quilting or a machine quilting technique. And how long will it take me to quilt something this big (108 x 120 inches)?
Well grandma is in the process of quilting a king size quilt by hand in solid white. You’re looking at a couple years work possibly. Machine quilting I know little about. I think you have to have a special machine and your looking at days. Some people do it for money though. My great grandmother turned quilts out in a few months at a time. SHe enjoyed piecework but hated quilting. What she did was the knotting.
I actually considered doing the tying, but I think it might take away from the final look. What I’m really hoping is that I can catch my mother-in-law between quilting projects. She actually likes to do the quilting part. It takes her about 6 months to do a queen sized quilt, but she does it between all of the other things she is involved in.
She makes good time then what pattern is it? Or am I just not paying close enough attention?
It depends on the quilt. She stencils her patterns on. I think she gets her quilt stencils at JoAnn’s, so they may not be as detailed as the designs you are used to doing.
