This is the fudge I grew up with.  It’s a good recipe to make with kids, so that they can take turns stirring.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2/3 c. (5 fluid oz.) Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk
  • 2 T butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 c. miniature marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 c. (9 oz.) Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Line 8-inch square baking pan with foil
  2. Combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter and salt in medium heavy-duty saucepan.
  3. Bring to full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  4. Boil stirring constantly, for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Stir in marshmallows, morsels and vanilla extract.
  7. Stir vigorously for 1 minute, or until marshmallows are melted.
  8. Pour into prepared pan.
  9. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until firm.
  10. Lift from pan, remove foil and cut into 48 pieces.
*Makes 24 (2 piece) servings.
