Two-Tone Fudge Brownies

These moist, fudge brownies have a scrumptious topping that tastes just like chocolate chip cookie dough!  Everyone loves these brownies and they make enough to feed a crowd.

Ingredients:

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts

Cookie Dough Layer

  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 T milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. In a microwave, melt chocolate chips, stir until smooth.  Cool slightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Stir in melted chocolate.
  5. Combine flour and baking soda in separate bowl; and gradually add to batter.
  6. Stir in walnuts.
  7. Spread mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan.  Bake at 350 F for 16-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.
  9. In a small mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  10. Beat in milk and vanilla.
  11. Gradually add flour.
  12. Stir in chocolate chips.
  13. Drop by tablespoonfuls over cooled brownies; carefully spread over top.
  14. Cut into squares.  Store in refrigerator.
