I finally got the Sassy Charm Quilt completed!  It’s possibly a miracle with everything that has been going on lately.  I did get it quilted over a week ago, but I just didn’t have the time to bind it.  I’ll blame my little sister and her wedding for that.

This quilt’s finished size is about 48×33-inches.  I started with a Sassy by Sandy Gervais charm pack, and a large piece of purple fabric from my stash.  The first thing I did, was cut the purple fabric down into blocks the same size as the charm pack.  This was a good in between other things project… as long as the cat wasn’t trying to set on my fabric.

After I got all my fabric cut, I stitched each piece from the charm pack to a purple square, and ironed the seams down. For this project, I ironed all my seams toward the purple fabric because I knew it would be dark enough not to show through – and I despise being able to see one fabric through another.

Once I had all my initial blocks pieced, I laid them out on a spare sheet and pinned them down. It gave me a chance to determine how I wanted to colors to be organized.  One recommendation – don’t do this on your carpet, you will pin your sheet to the floor.

After I got my sheet detached from the floor,  I sewed my pieces into rows, and then sewed the rows together. Then, I decided it wasn’t quite wide enough, so I took part of my backing fabric, and some left over purple fabric to add strips to the side. This quilt was quilted in black fabric on both sides of the seams.  It looks kind of cool on the back.  I bound the quilt with more of the purple fabric.

Thanks so much! I’m actually really excited with how it turned out. I wasn’t sure at all about the extra border.

Oh Wow. I found you on Sugar Bee Crafts. You really deserve a big hand for this one. I wouldn’t even know how to cut pieces for a quilt. Kuddos to you!

Thanks! This one was super easy. I started with some pre-cut charm packs (which are 5-inch squares) and cut my purple fabric the same size. Then I just sewed everything together.
