This dress is a variation on the Vintage Border Dress I made for Easter.  It’s the B style bodice from the pattern and a shorter skirt.  For this version of the dress, I used a great cotton lycra blend fabric for the main body of the dress and accented it with an inexpensive, but super pretty cotton poly blend print for added detail.

As with my last version of this dress, I chose to make pleats instead of gathering for a cleaner look.

There is an inset zipper in the side of this dress, which I absolutely love.  It make the dress easy to get in and out of without taking away from the clean lines of the bodice.

The neckline and arm holes are finished off with handmade bias binding from the detail fabric, and the bottom of the dress is finished with a narrow rolled hem.

Now you just gotta make yourself some cute little spanks to go underneath! 😉

I’ve got lots of leggings, so I should be good to go.

    Wow. Lovely dress.
    Great job.

You make it seem so effortless, and I’m certain it would be a mess if I tried. 😉
Love that it has a side zip. Love those on garments.
Can’t wait to see what you make next.

Thanks Kristen! And I know you could totally make this dress. The pattern is one of the best and simpilest I’ve worked with.

I’ve been drawn to more retro/vintage clothing design lines recently. This is really nice, and it’s nice to see it’s a Vogue pattern. You did a lovely job of it, and the neck and armhole trim looks super tidy. Good colours for you!

Thanks so much! I absolutely love this vintage vogue pattern. I still haven’t made it per the directions, but I am enjoying it.
