My weekly update on projects progress.

Finishes

This week I made myself a wonderful wearable muslin of Victory Patterns Ava dress. I’m glad I did, as my “for real” version will need to be several sizes smaller.

Finished Quilt Tops:

No quilting has been done on any of my previously finished tops.

And the gift quilt was basted last night and I managed to finish up my bird quilt top. Yea! I even got the backing pieced so it’s ready to be basted once the gift quilt is quilted.

Quilt Tops in Progress:

Still no progress on the Impromptu-along quilt that I started last year as part of an ImAGingerMonkey sew-along, or my Christmas crazy quilt.

And, thanks to a QAL over at The Sassy Quilter, I’ve pulled and started cutting fabrics for a triangle quilt.  I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

And now you see why I never have more than 2 projects on the go at any one time…I’d never get anything finished. My sister is like that, she will buy all the materials for knitting, macrame, or whatever and get bored about halfway through, and put it away. When she gets the crafter’s urge again, does she pull out the project and finish it, thinking, “Oh, I’m almost done!”?? No indeed! She goes out and spends more money on more materials…for a project she will never finish, either. I have inherited many kilos of knitting yarn from her, all with half a project hanging off the thread. I know fine that if I don’t finish what I start, when I die I’ll have a houseful of half finished stuff that will end up as landfill instead of heirlooms.

I’m doing a decent job of getting things finished lately. My biggest problem is all the quilts that are ready for quilting. I have free motion plans for a lot of them, but can’t do that myself. I may just give up those plans and have a week or two of quilting.

LOVE the gift quilt! I have to have two projects going – I get bored and I find if I can switch between two I am able to get it done 🙂

Thanks for visiting my blog. Did you know you are a no-reply blogger? Wanted to say thank you so much for visiting and commenting. I think the angled edges work well too 🙂

    Your dress is beautiful!
I know what you mean about finishing. There are so many reasons for not finishing a project.
Maybe I’ll do a series on that subject!
The bird quilt is so intriguing with the subtle color variations. I just love the birds. It’s a gift?! Lucky person.
I quilt all bed quilts in sections now, so I CAN finish them. It’s just too awkward to quilt a large top in one piece. Figure out how the sections can be broken down, quilt, then join in any of the million ways out there.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m hoping to do some major quilting in the next few weeks, and maybe get several of my finished tops quilted.

Your dress is so elegant! I love the green! Glad to see you are joining in the QAL, Andrea. The pink and gray is such a perfect palette. This is going to be sew much fun!
