The Mod Crazy Quilt is finally done!  It’s been on hold for a few months while I was trying to decide what to do for the backing. My original plan was a minky in robin’s egg blue. It was lovely, but I had horrible trouble trying to work with the minky on my home machine.  So, I picked all my stitches out and put the top to the side.

On a recent trip to Let’s Sew, I took the top with me and found a super fun backing for the quilt. The Norwegian Woods Forest Multi by Coco Berry for Michael Miller Fabrics. The bright colors paired with the fun placement made it perfect for the back.

The quilting was done in diagonal stripes, which rotated 90 degrees through the pieced section of the top.  It was very interesting to try to create straight lines with no guide. My lines certainly aren’t anywhere near perfect, but it adds to the character of this quilt.

The binding for this quilt was a bright green stripe I had left over from backing for a recent gift quilt.

Overall, I love how this quilt came out.

Another good one! I looked back at the
“making of” post, sorry the minkee backing didn’t work out but I like that the woven shows off the quilting.

I’m actually pretty happy the minkee didn’t work out, since it meant that I got to use the super cute Norwegian Forest print instead. Maybe I’ll give minkee another try sometime, but definitely on a practice piece first.

This one is so different than the other one you shared…but i love the crazy quilted balanced with the solid. Cool thinking there…

Thanks so much, Valerie. I really enjoyed making this top, and I was so glad to get it done last week.
