Finished Quilt Tops:

No new finished quilt top this week. That might actually be a good thing, as 3 is plenty to have waiting on quilting.

Quilt Tops in Progress:

I did start making process on enlarging the communique quilt, the top section above the current quilt is complete now, and I’ve started on the bottom section.

You can get a better idea of what is done on the map I’ve made below.

The Christmas Crazy Quilt is still in it’s box waiting to be worked on, but with the AC finally on in the house, I might just pull this out to work on soon.

But enough about me. What are you working on right now?

I too am waiting for the AC to work on an unfinished top (Storm at Sea). Last summer I thought I had cut enough pieces only to find out I hadn’t done enough triangles, and put it up in a fit of pique.

I finally, Finally finished the Dresden Plate quilt, and just need to whip down the binding on the back. On to the next thing!

I need to make a baby quilt for a friend, so that will mean pulling fabrics and dreaming for a few days. I want something simple that doesn’t involve applique! Kind of hard because I don’t have many big pieces left in my stash, and I want to see if I can do without buying any just now. That’s the wonder of traditional quilts–making “something out of nothing.”

You could give paper piecing a try. It often has small pieces. Or maybe something as simple as postage stamp blocks, which make for great scrappy quilts. I also like the economy block for baby quilts and it can be made in various sizes depending on what size pieces you have to work with. Good luck!

You are making wonderful progress on the communique quilt. Nice to see your plan! Happy sewing in the AC!

Thanks Lorna! I’m really looking forward to getting the top finished, so I can figure out what I want to do for the backing. I have so much fabric that works for the quilt’s color palette that I’m pretty sure it will also be pieced.
