It’s that time again, a works in progress update! This week I have a finished quilt to share with you – my Christmas crazy quilt. I finished the top before last week’s update, and finished it late Saturday night.

I also started on my #SMArcherSA Archer shirt.

Since this is my first button-up shirt, I’m basically making a muslin for the sew along, using a vintage sheet I picked up at the Goodwill, which should be cute for knocking about the house and running errands; but once I figure everything out, I’m going to make something a little dressier with these great fabrics I picked up at Let’s Sew.

And while I really should go back to my double wedding ring quilt, I’ve found myself designing my first medallion quilt based on the center of a fun rabbit panel (also found at Let’s Sew). It will be full of bright colors and nice to have out in the spring, if I get it done soon enough.

I really should be working on that double wedding ring quilt though…. What are you working on – or avoiding working on, as the case my be?

We had a 3-day weekend just now. My pastor’s wife asked me before church if I could put together some tablecloths for the folding tables we have for coffee mornings, etc. I said sure. Then they announced the first coffee morning…for Wednesday! So that was my weekend planned for me. I had wanted to do something nice and patchworky, but ended up using a patchwork-print cloth I had on hand and just putting a border round it for one table, and the other a print border round a plain piece of fabric. That one came out square instead of rectangular and just barely long enough, but I couldn’t find my metric-system measuring tape so I was reduced to a wooden meter stick and a sewing rule marked in inches!! At the same time we’ve been having computer trouble and the tech was here…DH and he were laughing their heads off at me talking to myself (often severely!) in three languages…I had planned to put borders of a flower print round the “too-short” cloth, and told myself three (count em, three) times to cut it in quarters the long way…and promptly folded and cut it the short way…making 4 totally useless for the project strips. Aaaaarrrgh!!

Ah well… they were finished in time and I’ve learned a bit. Not a word was said about them, though, and I couldn’t attend the coffee morning, so I don’t know what they thought. Never mind. I’m just “sendin’ up timber” if you know what that means.

I’m sure that everyone really likes your tablecloths. And I’m so sorry you had to measure in english and work in metric. It confuses me to go back and forth as well.

Your Christmas quilt is finished? WOW! Nice job, Andrea! It is lovely and will be a wonderful addition to the decorations that make it feel like Christmas. Your bunny panel is so cute. A medallion quilt will show him off nicely for Easter!

Thanks so much! I’m not sure if I want to start on that medallion quilt next, or get back to my double wedding ring. I know I should work on it, because the pieces are all cut and it’s just a matter of sewing them together, but I’m just not feeling the bright palette right now. Of course, the medallion quilt will also be a very bright palette, so I guess I shouldn’t get too excited about starting it, if I’m not wanting to work on my other bright palette quilt.
