Motion is something that I’ve always had difficulty capturing, so I was glad to see it as the theme for this week’s #OurProject52 photo prompt.

This week was also a very convenient week for the motion theme, as I was at the Indiana Farm Bureau Young Farmers conference and there is a pedal pull for the kids each year. My local Young Farmer’s group is the one that puts on the pedal pull, so I always try to take a few photos of the event anyway, this year I played with a few newly discovered settings on my camera to see what I could get.

I took photos with short and longer apertures. *Note to self- don’t try long apertures without a tripod.

I am finding that I do prefer a nice sharp photo the best, even if I am trying to show motion.

What tips or tricks to you use for showing motion in your photos?

This looks like a fun event, that pedal pull looks like a classic good time. I’m a fan of crisp images too. #ourproject52

It’s always a lot of fun. The kids enjoy it, and I think that everyone enjoys putting it on, even if they do complain about it from time to time.

Fun times! Wish we had places like this near here. I am still learning this whole DSLR thing. It’s a process but I do prefer sharp pictures when I can actually get one right.

Looks like fun! I love experimenting with long exposures. I had an alternative post for last week where I did long exposure of the traffic lights in front of my house! I need more traffic for prettier streaks! LOL But I love this, looks like the kids had lots of fun!

I think the kids did enjoy themselves. They were certainly running around like they did. I’d love to experiment more with long exposures, but it’s been too cold to get out at night and try the type I’m wanting to take.
