Since I didn’t have enough leftover fabric from the crib sheet to do the backing of Huxley’s monster quilt, I wanted to make something else with some of the fabric. I settled on a taggie blanket as a great way to use up some of the fabric.

Monster taggie blanket

One side is pure Monster’s Inc., using the fabric from the crib sheet. For the other side of the taggie blanket, I created a patchwork from the most of small scraps I had left from the Monster quilt. Each of the ribbons used in this taggie blanket is different. That’s one of the best things about having a large collection of ribbon for crazy quilting. It gave me a lot of options. This has been one of the most enjoyable quilts I have made so far and I couldn’t wait to show all of you guys! Let me know what you think of it in the comment section below. Monster’s Inc is one of my favourite films ever! Whilst making this quilt I realised dressing as Sulley would be the perfect costume for Halloween this year. I couldn’t believe I had never thought of this before. I’ve managed to find the perfect costume that makes you go rawr too. I’m counting down the days to Halloween already!

I didn’t have a pattern for this taggie blanket. I just did what looked right to me. Have you made a taggie blanket before? What size do you make yours? Do you have a certain type of ribbon you prefer?

Oh this is so cute. I was just thinking of making a baby bib, but wasn’t all that excited about it. This would be so much more fun. And I have some grosgrain rainbow ribbon that would work. (What size did you make? Is it about the size of a sheet of paper?)

Mine finished just a little larger, at 11×13-inches. I didn’t really have a plan for the size, I just started piecing left over scraps from the Monster Quilt and stopped when it looked right to me. That’s one of the nice things about these little tag blankets. There are no rules.

Love your taggie blanket! I make mine roughly 12 inches square (sometimes 14). As for the type of ribbon, I usually end up using whatever is in my notions bin that matches! Thanks for linking up with TGIFF!

I have seen a lot of square taggie blankets lately. They’re cute, but for some reason, I almost always design better in a rectangle.

Monster’s Inc.!!! Such awesome fabric! And I love the 2-sided taggie, the variety of ribbons is such a good touch. 🙂

Thanks so much! This project was a lot of fun to make. The sad thing is that I didn’t have to buy any ribbon to make this. Even after using all of those different ribbons, I had ribbons I hadn’t used. I’d like it say it’s because of all the crazy quilting I do, but really I hoard things I think are pretty.
