Are any of your friends readers?

I would like to think that a large number of my friends are readers, but as I get older, and particularly as I read more, I have realized how little most of my friends read.

Don’t get me wrong, I have a few friends who read all the time. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be the norm anymore. Everyone is too busy with the other parts of their lives to read books.  So, I think this is where I give a shout out to my friends Kayci and Anna for being big readers too. I appreciate having someone to talk about my books with. So thank you ladies.

Do you have a lot of friends who enjoy reading?

No, I don’t have reader-friends. People who spend hours every day on Wassap or Facebook, but they “don’t have time” to read. Granted, I wouldn’t get as much reading done if I weren’t an insomniac, but since I was about 5, I have read like other people breathe.
I do know an elderly lady who says she reads a lot, but it’s mostly romance novels, and she says when she has finished one she can’t remember anything about it. But then, a lot of those Harlequin-type novels are mush of a mushness.

Here in S. Spain, women my age are so houseproud they spend most of their time cleaning, ironing, and making their homes look like nobody lives there–you know, like one of those furniture exhibits in a department store. My house is untidy because quite honestly a good book trumps the dusting and ironing, any day of the week.

I feel the same way. Tho sometimes it’s a problem- like when I run out of clean cups because I was too busy reading (or sewing) to do the dishes.
