June is Pride Month in the US, so this month seemed like a good time to tackle this question.  Being a CIS woman, I don’t go out looking for books that feature LGBTQ characters. However, I am a big supporter of diversity in media. And books are no exception.  I love when my LGBTQ friends can go to the library or bookstore and find books with character that face the same challenges they do.

Do you read LGBTQ books? What books would you recommend someone from outside the LGBTQ community read?

Like you, I don’t go out of my way to find them, but I have read “Hiding My Candy” by The Lady Chablis, which I actually found very sad, even though I could hear that inimitable voice coming through every line. Also one finds gender issues in older journals and diaries such as Sylvia Plath. They can be interesting, but not a large part of my reading.

I’ll have to look into that one. Recently, I’ve had several people recommend Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe.
