On the Farm

The ducks have a temporary fence now, allowing me to let them out to enjoy the sunshine, without having to worry that they will get lost somewhere in the pasture, which currently has grass up to my shoulders, or get in the road and get run over.  The fenced area also makes it a lot easier to put the ducks back up by myself, which is good with Matt working so late this time of year. Ah the joys of being married to a farmer.

The new kittens are acclimating well.  They’ve seem to have chosen the deck as their new home.  They don’t have names yet, we’ve just been calling them kitten.  I’m thinking about “Cinder” for the black one.

But I’m not sure about the white/calico kitten.  Is it calico? It’s white, but the orange and black are pale- more like cream and grey.  Either way, they need names, so if you have good ones let me know.

At Home

IMG_4024My step-dad came and finished my closet last weekend.  He did a great job.  I have way more room than I need. I actually have hanging space left! Granted, my winter clothes are put up in a box, and I keep my coats in a different closet downstairs, but I don’t remember the last time I had extra rack space.

I would still like to make an effort to pare down my clothes – just keep the things I wear on a regular basis. It super hard for me to part with clothes though, even if I think it would be better to have fewer clothes that I love to wear instead of tons of clothes and feeling like I have nothing to wear.  I’ll probably have to convince someone (I’m looking at you mom) to come over and help me go thru things. With someone else there, I’m much more likely to be objective about getting rid of things.

I also need to go thru my fabrics and quilting projects down in my sewing space.  There are boxes I haven’t unpacked since we moved. Obviously, that’s not very helpful.

What’s going on with you this week?

Neko (nay-ko) is Japanese for “cat”, and the traditional “lucky cat” (Maneki Neko) is painted in just those colours! They say if you have your kind of white calico, you’ll never be poor. So maybe, Neko? Or Maneki
    (man-EH-kee)?

Cinders is a good name for the black one. Or Cinderella, if a girl. Though TBH when I saw the top pic I thought, Xena!!
