Mildred is a year-and-a-half old today.  In some ways it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long, but in others (like my lack of sleep) it feels much longer.

At about 2 and a half feet tall and just over 20 lbs, Milli is still very small – at least for her age.  She’s still wearing 9-12 month pants, but we have graduated to some 18 month tees for the length… and in some cases the cut (I’m looking at you Carter’s).  Seriously if you have a tall lanky kid go with Carter’s brand clothes… they are cut super skinny and we have to size up for their tops to fit around Mil’s waist.

In the last month, Milli survived her 1st trip to Chicago for cousin Annemarie’s wedding.  She had a lot of fun at the wedding, especially going outside the church playing with the flowers.

I was impressed with how well Milli handled the 5-1/2 hour drive. I think it was the breaks we took in Terre Haute.  She quite loves the Cracker Barrel where we stopped for dinner on the way up and the Books-a-Million where we stopped for a break on the way home.

Mil has also been able to spend a lot of time outside with daddy over the past few weeks, working on the tractors, and generally making a mess of herself.

I’ll be interested to see what the next few months bring… If we’re lucky, maybe they will bring hair…. but since she’s my child, she probably won’t be that lucky.

Hair will, eventually, arrive and become visible! My two blue eyed babies looked bald long after their hair started growing, because it was almost white. My brown eyed baby had visible hair much sooner. As adults, they all have hair, perfectly normal hair. Have plenty of stretchy knit hats on hand, because there is less friction on a baldy baby head, so the hats tend to slide off more often and get lost. None of my little ones liked things tied under their chins, and all disliked elastic chin straps.

Milli generally dislikes wearing all hats and bows, which has been quite frustrating this summer, partially because I was worried about her getting a sunburn on her head, but also because she was commonly mis-gendered unless I put her entirely in pink (and sometimes even then). It seem that people assume babies with no hair are boys. Tho at this age, I suppose it doesn’t really matter much. She will eventually get hair, and in the mean time I’ll just attempt to get her to wear all the cute hats.

The picture of her with the fork is such great work! All the blues, including the bluish color of the fork, make her warm coloring stand out!

Thank you! I got lucky with that shot. It was taken with my phone and is actually unedited. I much prefer to shoot with my real camera, but it’s a bit bulky to just walk around with in restaurants.
