Today’s craft project is a terrarium.  How is this a craft you ask?  It’s a craft because I have created the terrarium base myself, out of an old lightbulb.  For full instructions on the process, particularly taking apart the lightbulb, see this tutorial from the hipster home.  I used my beading tools to do all of the labor.

For my project, I used a decorative round lightbulb with a 3 1/8  inch diameter.  And instead of little sticky feet, I made a base by mod podging some pretty scrapbook paper an old ribbon roll.  (Look at me… recycling.)

I ordered my air plant online through an Etsy Shop.  I like to support other Etsians (is that a word?) when I can.

I had originally hoped to put a smurf or 2 in my terrarium (there is something rather ironic about putting Brainy Smurf inside of a lightbulb), but unfortunately, the only smurf figurines I could find were life size… and while life sized smurfs aren’t that big, they are much too large to fit through the end of a lightbulb.  I did consider trying to remove the end of the bulb to get a more circular shape, and a larger entry hole… but upon further consideration, I decided that I would just end up breaking the bulb.
