Today’s project is really awesome! I made a purse out of an old book. I’m very excited about how this project turned out. I got to make use of the cover of a book that was falling apart (I’m trying to come up with ideas for the pages. Leave me a comment if you have any ideas.) I used some vintage fabric as a liner and contrasting felt for the sides and base insert. I used both hot glue and mod podge for this project.
I started by mod podging the interior lining to the book cover and the hot gluing around the edges just to be safe. Note that you should put the handles in under the lining, for a clean book. I then cut the sides out of felt while I was waiting for the mod podge to dry.
Once the mod podge was dry, I flipped it over and put mod podge on the front to seal the book cover.
Then I just hot glued the sides in. This was actually a fairly easy project, and I love the final product. I did mine differently, but for an official step-by-step tutorial, visit this site.
For my best friend’s wedding we made our bouquets out of pages from a book. We made little roses and used brown inks to distress the edges. Here and there we put a brown paper flower in the bunch.
That seems like a very good way to use all of the pages that I cut out of the book. I’m still looking for something to do with them.
