Chess Squares

This is my mother-in-law’s recipe for Chess Squares. They are fantastic, but I don’t make them too often, since my husband is quite sure that his mom’s are better.
Ingredients:
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 stick butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 (8oz.) package cream cheese
- 3 eggs
- 1 lb. powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
Instructions:
- Mix together cake mix, butter and beaten egg. Press into bottowm of 9×13 pan.
- In large bowl, mix together cream cheese, eggs, and powdered sugar, until smooth.
- Pour over mixture in pan.
- Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes.
- Let cool and cut into squares.
