Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding with Maple Sauce

This recipe came from a Land O’Lakes seasonal cooking magazine. Cinnamon raisin bread adds flavor to this easy-to-make bread pudding. Serve it warm with homemade maple sauce.
Ingredients:
Pudding:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 8 slices (or 4 cups) cinnamon raisin bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Sauce:
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons half and half
Instructions:
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Place 1/4 cup butter in 1-1/2 quart casserole dish. Melt butter in the oven (about 5 minutes).
- Add bread cubes; toss to coat.
- Combine milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla and cinnamon in a medium bowl; stir to blend.
- Pour mixture over bread crumbs.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until center is set.
- Meanwhile, combine all sauce ingredients in a 1-quart saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil (about 5 minutes).
- Continue cooking another 3-4 minutes until mixture is thickened.
- Serve warm sauce over warm bread pudding.
