You may remember last week’s post about making my very own undies.

I enjoyed making them so much, I wanted to make another pair or 2.  The only problem was that my local fabric shop didn’t have a lot of options for stretch lace in the width I needed to make them.  Black and white… that’s it.

While I could have purchased white lace and dyed it, I decided that I would rather try an experiment.  I purchased some narrower lace in a super fun bright green, and a narrower lace to go with it in white as a border.

I attached narrow lace to the top of the wider lace, with the same stitch that I used for the construction of the undies.

Once my lace was attached, I followed the same tutorial process from So Sew Easy.

I love how this pair came out.  It’s a lot more fun than the last pair, and really wasn’t any harder to put together.

Have you ever improvised to make the fabric you have work with a pattern you love?

OK, these are great! Is there a free tutorial or pattern you used to make these. I know my hubby would love them. 😉

I used the tutorial over on So Sew Easy. http://so-sew-easy.com/make-your-own-lace-undies-tutorial-and-free-pattern/ There is a pattern you can download and print, along with instructions for spacing the pattern out for your size, and a step by step tutorial on sewing them together. I didn’t have an overlock stitch or foot for my machine, so I used a basic zig zag stitch. It’s not quite as pretty, but they seem to be holding up just as well.

Love them! The green is super fun.

I’m loving the green. I can’t wait to see what else I’m able to come up with. That’s the best thing about undies. I wear something completely crazy and no one but me will know.

LOVE these – what a great idea. You know, I also have been customising – I’ve made the central portion from a lycra material, lined with a cotton liner and added a one inch wide stretch lace trim around the edge. Works great still and uses all the left over bits of fabric. Feels like free knickers!
I really must post some on my site.
Would you mind if I featured your knickers on So Sew Easy?

I’d love to see your latest creations, and feel free to share mine. I’m thinking of laying out a pattern for a pair with side seams so I can play with some fun print jersey with lace on the back.
