The theme for this week’s #OurProject52 challenge is Eyes.
I love photos of eyes. As much of a cliche as it is, eyes are the windows to the soul. They are what give you a glimpse into a person’s thoughts and feelings. Unfortunately, eyes are not on of my strong points when taking photos. I attempted to take a few photos of my own eyes- that wasn’t super easy.
I was never really happy with any of the shots I took of my own eyes, because the color just didn’t come out the way it does it real life. The pale green-gray around the edges really disappears in the photos. *sadface*
It kind of made me feel like the only eyes I was qualified to take photos of were potato eyes.
But, then I decided to give it one more try with the cat. It seems the cat was much more photogenic than me on photo day.
And I also learned that it is much easier to take photos of someone else’s eyes than it is to take photos of your own.

I tried take pictures of my own eyes too and it was a big fat fail. I had to adjust my strategy and move on. hahahaha
Great shots of the tater and the cat. #ourproject52
Thanks Mimi! I feel like I might do a better job taking photos of myself it I hadn’t misplaced the piece that connects my camera to the tripod. That was an epic fail on my part. It’s been missing since at least Christmas. Maybe I should use that as an excuse to get myself a nice tripod.
I also tried an eye shot and it didn’t work out. I’m not skilled enough to know how to get a good shot of my own eye. However, I found a good picture of my daughter’s eyes this week. I also thought about taking a picture of potato eyes…lol.
Hah! I’m glad I’m not the only person who thought of potato eyes with this challenge. I think it must just be really hard to get good photos of your own eyes. After all, unless you’re using something like an iPhone where you can see the photo you’re taking- how will you know if you have a good shot or if you’re making some sort of ridiculous face?
I didn’t even attempt a photo of my own eyes, LOL!! I decided to share something that I’m currently using my eyes for. That is a very cute cat!
Yes, I saw that you’ve been doing a lot of reading. I love reading too. And I’ll be sure to tell the cat how cute she is. 😉
My original idea for my photo was to get a photo of my own eye too! LOL but that of course, didn’t work out. I love cats eyes. And you have a cute cat!
Thanks so much LaShawn! I wish she was that cute all the time. She’s a lot less cute when she thinks it’s time for me to be out of bed and is batting me in the face with her paws, or pulling on my hair with her teeth- but I guess she’s trying to be helpful, even then.
Your eyes are gorgeous! I agree about it being hard to photo your own eyes. I tried to photo my kids and they all looked so sad. It’s harder than it looks.
I’m glad it’s not just me! The biggest thing was that I think I should have put some makeup on. The only thing I kept noticing in my photos was the purple circles under my eyes.
LOL Great shots! It really is hard to take pictures of your own eyes, especially when you know what you want to capture and you just can’t get it. I think your back up is pretty nice.
Thanks Daenel! I’ve been having fun following along with your posts. I love your new glasses.
