When I saw this week’s #OurProject52 project, my mind immediately went back to middle school when I took a summer photography class. That’s when I first learned the rule of thirds.
Here are a few of my recent shots when I used the rule of thirds:
Do you use the rule of thirds in your photos?

This was my first time using the rule of thirds. I’ll have to get use to trying to apply this rule, but I’m looking forward to practicing trying to get better shots using this rule.
I’m sure you’ll do great with it. Eventually you’ll (and you might already) do this without even realizing it.
Great pictures, I love the one of the LaLaLoopsy looking doll. I had no idea what the Rule of Thirds was but I will be giving it a try. #ourproject52
Thanks Mimi! That is a LaLaLoopsy doll. Haley Galaxy sits on my shelf at the office, along with a few other fun things.
I have been using it and had no idea.
I’m not surprised. It’s very pleasing visually, so many people do it without noticing.
I love using the rule of thirds. Probably the only rule that I consistently think of when framing a shot.
Amazing how a little shift can really make a huge difference in an image.
It really is amazing. Thanks for stopping by Mimi.
Great photos! I am new to the Rule of thirds but, find it fascinating that so many of you all know what it is and how to apply it.
Thanks so much Shon! I love what the rule of thirds can do to photos. You might try taking some of your older photos and throwing them into a photo editing app and cropping them to see what changes it can make.
