Do you prefer books set in the past or the future?
This is a difficult question for me. If a book is well written, I don’t generally care what point in history is featured. I’ve read amazing books that took place in the Victorian era, and that take place in a future not yet realized.
This may be one reason I like Steampunk so much. It’s a beautiful conglomeration of past and future. It’s Victorian, Old West, and Futuristic Technology wrapped together in a beautiful bow.
What settings do you prefer to read?
The few “steampunk” novels I have tried have apparently not been the best examples…one started pretty good and then went into loup-garous and bloody killings…eh. So far I guess I prefer the past, or indeed the present. Most of my fiction reading is for the purposes of evening relaxation or easing into the morning, so I do go for comfortable past settings.
Most of the books, with steampunk tendencies, that I have enjoyed are really more high fantasy than anything else.
