How many books to you read in a year?
The number of books I read each year varies. Though Goodreads has been nice enough to inform me that I read a total of 66 books last year.
And, as you can see, the length of those books varied pretty widely, from a measly 31 page short story to an 815 page omnibus. Of course, up until last year, when I decided to start challenge myself to read more, by making myself accountable through my Book It series, I hadn’t been reading anywhere near as much. It was probably more like 10 or 12 books a year. I blame university. It took me a long time after graduating to even want to pick up a book and read again.
This year, my goal is to read 52 books, which is an average of one book a week. And so far, it’s going well.
Do you enjoy reading? On average, how many books would you say you read in a year?
GR tells me I read 207 books last year, up from 187 in 2014. That’s 46,262 pages. For me, it’s how many books I read in a week–at least 2, usually more. As you say, it has to do with how long the book may be, as well as the number of notes etc it may have. Also I have a naughty habit of having at least three books started at any one time, as it depends on my mood or how badly I’ve been sleeping, what I want to read.
Reading goals? I don’t really need one, and haven’t since I learned to read. Except, yeah, maybe more “grownup” books and not so much fluff. LOL
I tend to like fluff when I’m trying to sleep. It’s so much easier to fall asleep after reading fluffy books, because my mind isn’t constantly wondering what will happen next, or dissecting the actions of one of the characters, trying to get at their motivations.
Or like when I read Xinran’s book, “The Good Women of China”, lying awake mulling over what I had read (real life stories of women in China and the things they face).
Exactly like that!
