A Sewing Funk

I haven’t been down in my sewing space for ages. I wish I could say that I have a good excuse, like the fact that it’s freezing down there (in my defense it is), or that my sewing table needs to be replaced/repaired (it does), but honestly, I think I would work around those things if I was feeling inspired to create.
My sewing space is full of beautiful fabrics, and I have several projects in progress. But for some reason, I just haven’t been feeling it lately.
What gets you out of a sewing/quilting/creative funk?
Sometimes I need to see other people’s work to be inspired. Not quilting mags, in my case, but real stuff. So a quilt show, or a craft bazaar, or the old documentary which I finally bought, called “Hearts and Hands” which talks about quilting in American history as a form of social expression etc. And of course I can always re-read “The Colour Purple.” For some reason that always makes me feel creative, perhaps because sewing and quilting is Celie’s only outlet for much of the book.
Your blog always helps, too, btw. And that comes from the heart, not the mouth!
Also…sometimes you just need to do something different for awhile. Tell yourself you “can’t” quilt for a couple of weeks, see if that gets you interested again.
That might be a good plan for me. I hate being told I “can’t” do something.
