It’s the last week of Project Quilting this year, so I’ve been busy working up my final #PQ6 challenge. I’m using up an entire package+ of Kona Sunrise Solids charm squares. It looks like I’m actually going to get this one done fairly early in the week.
I got everything quilted down on Monday night, so all that’s left is binding and a hanging sleeve. Woo hoo!
I’m also working on a non-sewing related project for my wall. It’s going to feature some vintage letterpress pieces from the old print shop in town. No letters in this one, just all the odd bits of ephemera that most people don’t want.
What have you been working on this week?

Wow, love those Kona sunrise dresdens, looks amazing! The letterpress project is very intriguing, too 🙂
Thanks so much Stacey! I’m enjoying working on both of these very different projects right now.
Spring at your fingertips! Beautiful and delightfully bright!
Thanks so much! I’m having fun with this project, though it is stepping a bit out of my comfort zone with all the solids.
Those colors absolutely GLOW – very pretty!
Thanks so much Carrie! I’m really enjoying working with the solids.
Love the quilt. There is something simple yet clean about solid colors. It’s looking great!
Thanks Katie! I’ve really enjoyed working with solids for a change.
Really like the letterpress project! I love stuff like that.
Made myself a glasses case using two 10-in squares of my favourite fabrics. Made it a little tougher on myself by adding batting, but my glasses are quite bulky and I wanted something that would protect them, while not taking up all the space in my bag like a hard case. Just place the squares RS together, stitch all the way around, stopping 2 inches each side of the last corner (back stitch there). Turn to the RS,press and stitch along the edge to hold the 3 layers. Draw a line from one backstitch point to the other, and cut off (leaving an angle. Fold the raw edges of fabric to the inside and stitch down. You can decorative-quilt it if you like.
Now take the finished square and fold edge-to-edge like an envelope, and overcast the abutting edges with contrasting embroidery thread to hold them.
Decide whether you want to make a buttonhole or use velcro or a snap to hold your case closed.
And Voilá, as the French are so fond of remarking!!
I love making fun DIY projects with cast off items. It’s one of my favorite things. Your glasses case sounds nice. I hope it works well for you.
