Ages ago, when I first started this blog, I had a regular feature called "Follow Friday." It was my own spin on the #FollowFriday tag on Twitter where I would share a blog that I enjoyed reading. While I don't plan to do this every week, I do think it's time to bring the feature back. That way I can share some of the blogs I'm crushing on with you. So without further ado, I present…
Today I want to tell you a little about one of my favorite blogs, Living Outside the Stacks.
It's written by the lovely
Daenel's blog speaks to my creativity and love for seeing beauty in the small things. I recently got a chance to ask Daenel a few questions about her blog. Hopefully, they will give you an idea of what a lovely lady she is, and give you a reason to check out her blog.
Blogger Questions:
How long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging at Living Outside the Stacks for a little over 8 years but I've been blogging for about ten or twelve years. My first blog was called Curious Child's Library Wanderings and started off as a class project. Living Outside the Stacks was sorta my alter ego and allowed me to share my life away from the library.
What kind of reader interaction do you enjoy the most?
I'm active on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and because each platform is different, the interaction is different. So I think it's hard to say that I have a preference or enjoy one more than the other. It really depends on what I'm looking for at that moment. The people on my Facebook page are people who started reading my blog almost at the beginning, so we have a lot of history. We've shared a lot of life stuff: marriage, kids, divorce, death, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. So those are the people I tend to turn to when I'm feeling really down about something. I've been on Instagram for 6 years now. I have a core group of photographer friends and non-photo people that I interact with on a regular basis. Instagram is fun, but there are some heartwarming moments too. Twitter is where I turn to for information. Most of my Twitter friends are other librarians or bookish people. So, yeah, I really like them all and enjoy the time I spend with each group of people.
What post would you recommend to someone who had never been to your site before – the one that best encompasses what your blog is all about?
The post I'd recommend is "Life After Kids: No One Wants Kool-Aid." That post marked a turning point in our lives – The Hubs and I were preparing for life as empty nesters and I was starting to feel this overwhelming sadness. I'd always had kids up
under me asking for stuff and all of a sudden they were gone. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with myself or how I'd adjust to it just being the two of us.
Thank you so much for the feature! Definitely appreciate the shout out.
