Busy Busy Bee

I’ve been super busy lately, which means I’ve done a terrible job of updating the blog the way I should. I’ve been doing lots of work for my design business.
My biggest projects include general content updates to the website I built for Randy & Roxanne Mills, who are local authors. They’re having lots of book signing for their latest book, Summer Wind, so we’re making sure to keep that information posted to their site and their social media presence.
I’ve also recently been working with cousin Gary on a site for him and a friend, which outlines the facts they believe prove that the Russians have bribed President Trump with a 19% stake in the Russian oil company Roseneft. Regardless of your politics, it’s an interesting theory, particularly with the evidence they have to back it up.
I’ve also gotten a chance to do some design projects at the office, including new billboards for the University and a poster for the gospel concert that the University hosts each fall. It’s really quite nice to have a break from looking at code all day.
What’s been happening in your world?
I expected to have a lot more free time than I have had, this summer. Which is good, because it means I have had several students to work with, but bad for my poor old quilts! In the free time I’ve had, I have slowly sewn “crumbs” together. Years and years ago someone gave me a bunch of little 1.5 inch squares, which are a great catalyst for crumb sewing. The first 2 weeks of August I will have more free time, so of course we are in the grip of a heat wave (115ºF today) meaning I don’t feel like doing much of anything, even with AC. I need to dig out the poor old Storm at Sea quilt and work on it, but I know that means counting what I’ve got and what I need, and the idea of doing math is repugnant to me anyway, even without the heat. Impossible? Yes, I am.
I mean to do some tye-dye as well. It’s a real learning curve. Somehow it seems a lot more complicated than it did in my teens!
I just realised that my reading slumps are directly related to ambient temperature. When it’s very hot like this I find it hard to concentrate and find myself being much more demanding–my brain wants to be entertained but also sits there and picks holes in everything. Oh for a cosy comforting children’s book! But whatever I pick doesn’t satisfy. It’s me, not the books, I’m sure. However, this is the first really hot weather we’ve had this summer, so I can’t complain. But I do. LOL
Complaining is certainly allowed in that kind of heat. Perhaps a thriller instead of a children’s book? Maybe you’re brain will pick less if you have a swiftly moving plot and characters who are in peril.
