Matt and I went to see A Prairie Home Companion live at Elliot Hall of Music on Purdue’s campus over the weekend. We had a pretty good time. I got to go to Von’s before the show, and what could be better than seeing the Purdue Varsity Glee Club and Old Crow Medicine Show preform live in the same show.
Von’s is one of my favorite places on campus. It’s a row of shops full of books, records, comic books, beads, and clothes – basically a little of everything.
Matt told me I could get anything I wanted – but then he wouldn’t let me buy the $700 rock that would have taken 2 people to carry back to the car. Just kidding, I’d never buy a $700 statuary rock, even if it was cool looking and full of fossilized sea creatures. But I did buy a comic. I picked up the first issue of The Sandman, which is a comic written by Neil Gaiman.
If you’ve never listened to A Prairie Home Companion, I recommend you do. The shows are always entertaining. They have good music, and you often get to hear great running stories, such as The Lives of the Cowboys – that’s Matt’s favorite.
Here are some excerpts from the show we saw, thanks to their site.
