This dress is a variation on the Pastille Dress from the Colette Patterns Sewing Handbook.  I made this dress before is a fabulous Tula Pink print, and wanted something a little more subtle for my next version.

I started with the bodice from the pattern, sans cap sleeves and attached a simple gathered skirt.

The dress is made from imperial broadcloth with teal blue bias tape to finish the arms and a ribbon detail at the hem.

My favorite part about this dress is probably the ribbon detail.  I am absolutely in love with the Kaffe Fassett ribbon I used along the hemline.  It’s from Renaissance Ribbons, which makes high quality ribbons with some amazing designs.

Have you used this brand of ribbon before?  What did you use it on?  I’d love to see it.

Very beautiful! I love the ribbon trim! My favorite embellishment ever was a really wide white ric-rac I used on a baby sundress for Amelia. It was adorable!

Sounds cute. I love ric-rac on baby clothes.

Love your ribbon trim – nice contrast to that great shade of purple.
