Another year of the Vanderburg County Homemakers Craft Show has come and gone. And this year, we almost missed it. Mom and I had planned to spend the day shopping at some of the antique stores in town, but my mother-in-law’s birthday was coming up, so I wanted to take a quick trip down to Haubstadt to pick something up for her at Quilts N’ Bloom. Luckily, as we were checking out, Kathy asked us if we were planning to spend the day at the craft show; and I’m so glad she did.
We had a lot of fun, saw a lot of neat items and even purchased a few things. The majority of items I purchased at the show were jewelry items, while my mom tended toward some of the more traditional craft show items.
I picked up a couple of lovely necklace and earring sets from a vendor we’ve purchased from in the past. Her pieces are lovely, and if they are anything like my previous purchases, they will hold up amazingly well. The first necklace I picked out was a little fancier – a cameo set in white crystals with green accents on a beige and crystal chain.
The second necklace set from her booth will go with more of my everyday work wear. It was a necklace in pink rhodonite (with a black matrix) and onyx.
I would have been perfectly happy with just those two finds during the trip, but I also got lucky and found a gentleman selling hand polished stone and stone pendants. I’ve been trying to add more browns to my clothing and accessories, so I couldn’t pass up this beautiful pendant. Right now it’s hanging on a simple black cord, but I may pick up a nice silver chain to wear it on.
My final jewelry purchase at the craft show (and my most favorite) was this beautiful Steampunk inspired piece by K. Howell. She had a lot of beautiful pieces, so I’ll definitely be looking for her when we go to other craft shows in the future.
I did purchase a couple of non-jewelry items at the show as well. I got this fabulous Christmas box which I hope to make some sort of decorative piece from.
And some hand made Dead Sea Mud soap. I’m not sure how I feel about the concept of washing with mud, but the soap smells nice, and should be good for my skin.
