Trip to Holiday World

Matt and I went to Holiday World today. We had a lot of fun. (Thanks for the tickets Dave!) We did all sorts of great stuff… and I got Matt to ride a roller coaster.
The first thing we did was just take a trip around the park. It’s been years since we’ve been and we thought we’d best see what was still there and what was new. The last time I’d been was the summer they opened The Legend. They’ve had a lot of new stuff since then.
The first ride we went of was The Voyage. It was mucho fun, but I remember now why I’m not a huge fan of wooden coasters. I think I might have bruised my brains. And it has some REALLY sharp turns, and steep angles. We kept feeling like we needed to duck, because when you’re almost sideways, it seems like you’ll hit your head on the rails of the walkway that runs next to the track.
And the first drop was ridiculous. I was not expecting that sort of drop on a wooden coaster.
After that we did bumper cars. That was fun. Of course, the best part of bumper cars was watching the asians in front of us. Lord forbid. In college Matt used to joke about DWA (Driving While Asian) because most of the asians on campus were foreign and did not know how to drive. I never thought I’d see one having problems with driving a bumper car, but we did. I wish I could have gotten a picture. But that’s ok, I get a photo of Matt in his car.
We spent most of the day at Splashin’ Safari. We went of the Zinga. and floated around both of the lazy rivers.
We also went on the Pilgrims’ Plunge. It was really cool to ride up on the open air elevator.
And the ride down was really smooth.
On our way out tonight, we caught the end of the diving show. We got to see a man light himself on fire and then dive into the water. That was pretty awesome.
Overall, I’d say we had a great day at the Park. I think (and it was really Matt’s idea) it would be cool to get the District 9 Young Farmers together to go sometime next summer. It’s centrally located, and there is plenty to do if you have kids, or if you don’t.
