Matt & I went down to Nashville to the Opry yesterday.  It was a pretty long trip, but it was a lot of fun.  The main reason that we went was that our friend Dave was the guest announcer on the Opry.

This is the second time that Dave has been a guest announcer at the Opry, but the first time that Matt & I were able to go see him.

We got down to Nashville early, which was cool.  I wanted to go to the mall anyway.  Did you know that it’s still not open?  I certainly didn’t.  So… in lieu of the mall, Matt & I went to check out the Opryland Hotel.

We went on a backstage tour with Dave (and April from the Opry) before the show started.

We got to go by the stage.

And see some of the displays. (No, I didn’t flip this photo.  They have a lot of old print blocks in their display cases.)

We also got to see the artists entrace.

After the tour, we went and got our seats.  The place was packed.

Matt & I got to see some very good performers at the show.

Little Jimmy Dickens - Jimmy is 90 years old and has been a member of the Opry for over 60 years. He was actually given a congressional recognition at the show we went to see. I believe he still spends his time outside of Nashville with his wife just outside of Petersburg, IN.

Terri Clark - Sang several songs including 'No Fear' - which se dedicated to an audience member who had served 2 tours in Iraq and received 4 purple hearts, 2 silver stars and 2 bronze stars.

Diamond Rio - Diamond Rio sang several songs including "How Your Love Makes Me Feel"

Dave did a really good job announcing too.

He even got his own commemorative poster.

Matt & I had a pretty good time. I just wish we could have stayed the night. I’m still trying to get back to a regular sleep pattern.
