I recently agreed to do a basic quilting tutorial for a couple of the ladies who participate in Virtual Craft Nite.  The tutorial was a simple 18-inch pillow cover using 9-patch blocks.  I’m super proud of the girls finished projects, though they may hate me, since the piecing process is a lot more tedious than their average sewing project. Most dresses and bags don’t require 36 different pieces.

For my sample pillow case, I used left over fabric from my His and Hers Quilt, which I finished a couple weeks ago.

For the pillow top, I used four 9-patch blocks, using 3.5″ pieces. I really like how the squares in the 9-patch block reflect the square designs in the quilt.

The back of the pillow features the same fabric from the quilt backing and a binding detail on the envelope.

The only problem will all these pillow covers is that I’ve run out of pillows on my couch.  Any ideas for what I should be making now?

So this is what I missed! They’re great!
How about quilted table runners next?

I’m thinking I need to make myself some new hot pads first, but that could totally be done.
