I seem to be doing a really good job of not getting much sewing done these last couple weeks. I really don’t have anything new to report so here’s a recap of where my current projects are at:
Finished Flimsys:
I have a total of 4 quilts with tops and backs ready for quilting. Those are the Communique quilt, Double Exposure quilt, String Theory quilt, and Impromptu quilt.
Quilt Tops in Progress:
I’m very slowly making progress adding details to my Christmas crazy quilt. I’ll be happy to get the hand work done soon.
No more progress on the Halloween quilt top. I’m still not sure where this one is going.
Project Plans:
Fabrics waiting to become quilts include: a great geisha panel that I want to hand embellish for a wall quilt,
some fabrics my sister gave me for my birthday which might become a double wedding ring (but I’m not sure just yet),
lots of Christmas fabric left overs that need to be turned into something (maybe Dresden plates),
and lots of other stash fabrics for any inspiration that may strike. And that doesn’t even include the fashion fabrics that are waiting for me to feel like tackling some clothing projects again.
How do you get out of a sewing slump?

That Christmas crazy quilt will be quite a piece of art! What a work of patience too! I love how you added beige “tags” on many blocks. It’s the first time I’m seeing such a detail and I really like that. Beautiful hand work too!
Thank you so much! It’s been quite the process to put together, but I know I’ll be happy with it when it’s done.
That crazy Christmas quilt is gorgeous. The halloween piece is sweet as well. It would be cute as a wall hanging…. Very cute.
A slump? I haven’t had one yet. Maybe you just need a break??
Thank you! I may have to adjust my rows a bit, but a wall hanging or something similar might be really nice for the Halloween fabric.
How to get out of any slump: do something different for a bit. Do some cooking/gardening/preserving, or writing, or reading. Change it up. We all get stale when we do too much of the same thing. I find the same to be true when I read novels in a series one after the other, or read too many of the same type of book…it gets dull.
I am finally learning to use a rotary cutter. I’ve had one for years but frankly been afraid of it. Sat down with that bag of goshawful furnishing-fabric scraps and thought, “I don’t like any of these, so it won’t matter if I ruin them”…freedom to fail helps success!
Yea! I’m glad you’re tackling that rotary cutter. I’m sure you’ll love it once you get used to it.
