I’ve always liked to think that I am creative, but the more I think about it the less creative I feel. I do a lot of projects that fall within the creative realm, but I more often feel as creative as I’d like to be. That means I don’t feel like I should call myself creative- perhaps “inspired” is a more appropriate term for what I am.
I am inspired to create. I need a prompt to come up with a concept for my projects. Something needs to spark that creativity, and that it why I choose to call myself inspired instead.
In my case, desire usually outruns performance. I have good ideas but can’t usually put them into practice. Not terribly talented, but I’ve made my peace (I almost wrote “piece”) with that.
I have a friend via email who writes, screenplays and stuff, and I give him what we call my “sparks”–if he can do something with them, well and good. I feel rather like Watson in the Jeremy Brett movie of “The Hound of the Baskervilles” when Holmes tells him, “Though not yourself luminous, you are a conductor of light.”
Nothing wrong with that.
I love that! I want to be a conductor of light!
