We got loads of ice (and a little snow) last Wednesday and Thursday. Enough that I got 2 days of working from home with my tiny human in tow. Fortunately for me, the hubs was also off on Thursday, so he was able to hang out with Mil during parts of the day, allowing me to get some work done, without the distraction of someone sitting on my lap asking 5000 questions every minute.
The day went well, tho we did loose power just long enough to get all the candles out and lit in the early evening.
On Friday, Matt went back to work, and that meant that while I did get a few things done for work, most of my day was finding ways to keep Milli entertained. In the morning, we made cutout cookies from a box mix. The yummallo mix was full of sprinkles, marshmallows, and pastel baking chips. Mil absolutely loved making them, tho I think they'll take a while to eat because they are so sweet.
In the afternoon, after the snow flurries stopped, and the air warmed a bit, Mil and I went outside to play in the snow. She had loads of fun breaking all of the icicles off the edges of the deck railing, throwing snow at me, and making snow angels.
In the end, we didn't get much snow, but there was a good layer of ice under it. Enough to shut down my office for a few days, allowing me to make some fun memories with Mil. What are your favorite memories of a snow day?
Modern baking recipes are sooo full of sugar! I remember back in the 70s during the “shortages” (price gouging) my mom and her friends started reducing the sugar by 30 and even 50% and the cookies and cakes were just as tasty. Nowadays I automatically use half the sugar because today’s recipes have way more than Mom’s recipes from the 50s and 60s. Some brownie recipes have more sugar than flour! Next time you make Milli’s pretty cookies, try using less sugar and maybe she’ll only ask 2500 questions a minute. LOL
Unfortunately, this batch was made using a box mix. It was something she got for Christmas. Our homemade ones aren’t quite some sickly sweet.
