A lot of parents love switching out their kids' toys, because toys get more play when they feel new. I'm not very good at that, but we do have seasonal toys. I have an entire tub of toys that Mil gets out and plays with during spooky season - tho secretly, part of them aren't toys.
The wooden characters pictured to the right came from this year's Target’s Halloween home decor collection. They have new themes each year. This year is bright neon, but our initial purchase of toys were more traditional black, white, and orange characters. We added the skeleton and creepy tree set to our toys this year.
These characters, though intended as decor pieces, are a great size for all of our dollhouses, and also work with the Target decor buildings.
These wooden decor pieces from Target also work great as places for the wooden characters to play. We have a spooky castle from a few years ago, and this year added the pumpkin house featured in the 1st photo.
It's cool for the wooden characters to have places to go outside of the dollhouse. We usually set up a spooky fun haunted house, or have them go trick-or-treating at theses little shelf decor buildings.
If your kid isn't into dollhouse and dolls, they might still love some spooky nesting dolls. My daughter thinks all the Halloween nesting dolls are too spooky, but they're perfect for pretend monsters.
You can get super fun seasonal ones from places like Target, Amazon, and Oriental Trading.
Magnetic blocks are all the rage for screen-free play right now and we have several sets, including these fun Halloween magnetic blocks.
If you already have a magnetic block collection, you will want to check the size of the blocks in the sets before you purchase, as several companies make them, and they can come in a variety of sizes.
At our house, we love a good Stuffie. I’m sure my daughter has hundreds, and they are all generally out year round, but we do have a few that fit the Halloween theme, so they get more playtime this part of the year, like this grey spider from Amazon.
