Summer is time for swimming, and apparently time for ducks at my house.
It’s also a time full of fluffy baby kittens.
What does summertime mean for you?
I live in a city where temps can soar over 45ºC in July and August, so summertime for me means waiting for the autumnal equinox. 12 weeks to go!
It means getting up earlier than usual to get everything possible done before 11 AM, by which time it’s too hot to go out. It means wearing a widebrimmed hat outdoors, and my loose African tunics (grand bou-bou) indoors.
It means drinking cold yerba maté tea instead of hot English tea.
It means all the room in the fridge being occupied by bottles of water and Christmas melon (known here as Toadskin melon). It means salad and fruit for supper instead of soup and curry, cold noodles instead of hot rice. It means no more rain until at least September.
Roll on, sweet gentle October, roll on!
What did you finally decide to name your kitties?
I hope you don’t get too hot there. My husband has dubbed the little white cat “Wheezy” because it’s been sneezing a lot. Allergies maybe? So it’s probably stuck with that name. The black once doesn’t have an official one yet.
I assume you’ve had them to the vet? It could be an upper respiratory infection, very common in young cats, and quite debilitating.
I still think Xena is a good name for the black one–she looks like a warrior!
They both had one when they came. Wheezy had sneezing, and the black kitten had goopy eyes. I had some meds left over from the last time one of the cats got a respiratory infection, so they got treated. They haven’t been for their shots and stuff yet tho.
