So… on top of my super secret project, I think I am going to start another one. Yes, I know… if I’m afraid the super secret project will take a while, why would I start another project? I have two good reasons for that:
- Sometimes, I feel like I need a break from the super secret project, but still want to do something creative.
- And that way I can have a project I’m working on that I can take keep everyone updated on.
What is this project you ask? I’m going to make myself a quilt. I’ve been thinking about making myself one for a while now, but just couldn’t decide on what type of quilt I wanted to make. Shockingly, I’ve decided on an applique quilt. I’m told that applique can be more difficult than a standard quilt, but after looking at lots of patterns and designs I feel that I can make a better go of this quilt design than most others, and it will give me a lot of creative freedom.
I would like to thank the Purl Bee for this design idea. Their quilt is a mini quilt, while I’m planning to make mine a queen sized quilt (approximately 108″ x 120″). I am also thinking I might use a black background on mine. It should help me hilight some of the great (mostly white) fabrics that I have.
The main reason that I think this is a good pattern for me, is that with all of the fabric flowers I have done, I am awesome at cutting out circles. It will be interesting to see if I can sew them as well.
I’m also planning to do more quilting on my design, specifically outside of the circles. It’s a little strange to me that the Purl Bee design has so little quilting itself.
Cute quilt!!!! Looks like fun. Circles seem difficult. Have fun with it! It’s always fun having more than one project going at a time!
I’m pretty excited about the project. I just hope it turns out as well as I think it will… Still not sure about the background color, but I guess I ought to get the circles done first anyway.
