A few months ago, I wrote a post about my quilting bucket list. I’ve already knocked a triangle quilt off my list, and now I’m braving the double wedding ring.

For my version of the quilt, I’m using some fabric that my sister got me for my birthday, along with some extra fat quarter bundles, because you know I can never start small. I’m making a twin sized double wedding ring quilt. It will finish 5 rings wide by 6 rings tall.

I’ve only finished 3 rings so far, but the pieces go together pretty quickly, considering how many there are.

Have you made a double wedding ring quilt before? Do you have any tips for getting clean curves?

I have absolutely no tips for clean curves. Just admiration. You amaze me…..

Thanks so much Crystelle! This is my first time making a double wedding ring, but I’ve done curves once before when I made the Colorist quilt.

I don’t like to piece curves Andrea, so I admire your fortitude in choosing this to do. All I can say is that when I piece curves I put a gazillion pins in, literally 1/4″ apart or more, and reduce the speed of my stitching. If you use thin pins your machine will sew over them, which doesn’t matter once in a while. (Shock horror say the purists!) You do blunt the needle, but I find that works for me. Good luck with this – it is looking lovely.

Thanks so much Dasha! I have been using a lot of pins, but I’ve still been having to pull my seam ripper out from time to time.

Wow, your fabrics look great together! This is going to be an amazing quilt.

Thanks so much Carole! I certainly hope so. I don’t normally work with so many brights at once – at least not recently. I’m more of a neutral girl, so I hope that I don’t get overwhelmed with the color and end up with a UFO.

very pretty, I’ve not done one before, but it is on my bucket list too.

I think it will definitely be worth it! I’ll let you know for sure when I’m done.

I certainly hope so! These aren’t my usual colors, but it’s loads of fun.
