My weekly update on project progress.
Finishes
I finished my Romance themed (read Valentine’s Day) crazy quilt.
I made a matching Valentine’s Day pillow cover.
And I made up a pillow cover to match the His and Her’s Quilt. You’ll see a blog post about the pillow top next week.
I also finished one more project, but it’s a gift, so it has to stay off the blog for a while longer…. I hate when that happens.
Finished Quilt Tops:
My zen chic quilt top has been done for over a year. I’m happy to report that this quilt is on it’s way back from the quilter! I sent the quilt out to Utah (that’s a long way from it’s Indiana home) so that Joanna of Designs by Laura Jo could do the quilting. My friend Jackie recommended her, and from the photos she sent, it looks like she did a wonderful job. And the best part – I didn’t get put on a year long waiting list. Once my quilt is back, all it will need is binding. I’m out of the red and orange fabrics, though I might still be able to pick some up at the local quilt shop. My other option would be to do some scrappy binding with neutral fabrics. What do you think?
The Mod Crazy Quilt is waiting it’s turn to be quilted. The quilting I want on it is pretty simple, but I originally planned to back this quilt with minky. If I stay with that plan, the quilt will have to go out to be quilted, as I’m not yet ready to tackle a minky backing. However, if I end up backing this with a simple cotton, I’ll be able to complete this one myself. I’m sure my husband would prefer that option. It’s much cheaper.
The black and white camera quilt is still waiting it’s turn to go to the quilter, and it will go out, because Joanna has some wonderful ideas that will just make this quilt amazing.
Quilt Tops in Progress:
I picked up fabric to make the Impromptu quilt last year when ImAGingerMonkey was doing a sew-along. Well, I got distracted and the quilt I planned to make is still not done. I’ve got all the pieces sitting together just waiting to be something amazing.
And that collage fabric I picked up ended up making it’s way from the project specific fabrics pile into a quilt top in progress this week. I decided to go with an improvisational coin style quilt, and like how it’s looking so far. I’m building it from the bottom up, so here’s hoping I know when to stop. And please excuse the bad photo, I took this picture for instagram and my tablet takes crap photos.
Last week, I completely forgot to mention my Christmas crazy quilt. All the piecing is done, but I still have quite a bit of hand work to complete.
Project Specific Fabrics:
The panel print from the Wilmington Prints Communique line, along with a matching print still don’t have a specific project. Do you have any ideas for what it should be? If I don’t come up with one soon, I’m probably going to end up making another crazy quilt, and I’m not sure my brain can handle that.
And of course the geisha print is still waiting to become a quilt. I won’t start on it until I finish my Christmas Quilt. I only want to have one quilt that needs hand work going at a time.
And, of course, none of that includes the fact that I have enough Halloween and Christmas fabric in my stash to do at least one more quilt of each.
Now… to get some of these projects done.

Wow! So many pretty projects… makes me want to dig out my crazy quilting blocks from my CQ obsessed years.
Do it! It’s totally worth the effort.
Oh, my! You have been a busy lady! That zen chic quilt is gorgeous and think a scrappy binding would finish it off beautifully. Love the progress shot of that Christmas quilt!
Funny you mentioned on my blog how busy I am but girl I think you have me beat in that area! Lots of lovelies going on here. Your Valentines Day Quilt is beautiful! And the Zen quilt is too. Love the camera quilt as well. Appears you are making strides finishing up those UFOs. You are welcome to join up with the UFO/NewFo Bloom Project on my blog! Happy quilting! I enjoyed visiting your blog today.
Your zen chic quilt is super delicious! I love the colors you’ve used! And the quilting looks divine! 🙂
You are making so many amazing quilts! Love the rich colours of your zen chic quilt, especially that little square.
Thanks! The red is Primitive Muslin in Burgundy and the orange is Primitive Muslin in Rust by Primitive Gatherings for Moda Fabrics.
