I am lucky to have several wonderful quilting and fabric stores in my area. They all provide fabrics and notions that appeal to different clientele, meaning that my area is rich in ideas and inspiration for quilting.
The first store that I want to feature is the shop closest to me, Quilts N’ Bloom, which is located in Haubstadt, IN. It’s a small shop, but full of nice fabrics and lots of inspiration.
Quilts N’ Bloom specializes in Moda fabrics, carrying both yardage and precuts. They have a wide assortment of fabric styles from the reproduction style prints of Kansas Troubles and Primitive Gatherings, to fun modern prints by Sandy Gervais, retro 30’s floursack prints, and licensed children’s fabrics.
I love that no matter when I go in the store, I can find fabrics for just about any seasonal project.
Quilts N’ Bloom also carries a lot of quality notions, including rulers, rotary cutters, fabric pens, and basting spray; along with a nice assortment of quilt patterns.
But, my favorite product that Quilts N’ Bloom carries is Dream Cotton batting. It’s so amazing that I buy the 60″ wide by the bolt.
That batting is actually stored in the wonderfully bright and cheerful classroom. I still haven’t had an opportunity to go to one of the classes, but my mother-in-law always enjoys the ones she attends.
Before you leave the store, don’t forget to look at some of the great pre-made items from Moda’s home goods line, including: aprons, dishtowels and even a fabric checkers game. They make great gifts for yourself or a friend.
And the best part of the trip down to Quilts N’ Bloom? Getting to visit with Kathy, who is always helpful, and interested in all of your creative projects.
Make sure to stop by! They are open on Tuesdays from 4-8pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 10am-2pm. You’ll be glad you did.
